HIRE Colorado looking for applicants

Boulder County, Colo. – HIRE Colorado, an innovative subsidized employment program that provides short-term employment to qualified adults, is recruiting applicants for its Internship and On-the-Job programs.

The HIRE Internship Program, which pays an average of $15 per hour, provides a paid workforce to non-profit and government agencies for short-term projects.

“The internships are a great way for people to get back to work,” said Deb Beaton of Workforce Boulder County, the HIRE projects’ local administrator. “They are short-term jobs, but they help people get a foot in the door, get some experience, and see the inner workings of local government and nonprofit agencies.”

HIRE Colorado is also recruiting for the On-the-Job Training Project that helps businesses pay to train new employees. Workforce Boulder County pays half of the wages of new hires for 1-3 months, up to $5,000. Qualified applicants are referred to businesses for final screening.

To qualify, applicants must:

· Be a resident of Boulder County

· Be legally able to work in the United States

· Have a total household income of less than $75,000 per year, and

· Have a child younger than 18 living in their household
