Relocation of Niwot Sheriff's Substation

Dear Niwot Residents:

I have news that may be viewed favorably by "Niwotians". We have a verbal agreement to relocate our Niwot
substation to the Mtn. View Fire Department on Niwot Road in January,
when our current lease has expired and we relocate most of our vehicles
and equipment to the new headquarters building. The new sub-station
will occupy a space on the north side of the fire station, with a
private entrance, (nearest to the road). It will be visible to the
public and we will relocate the sheriff's sub-station sign as well.
There will be an emergency call box on the exterior with a direct link
to the dispatch center.

We will be moving into a smaller space than we currently occupy in the shopping center. However, we will not
need as much space after the headquarters building is occupied and we
will be saving substantial dollars on the lease, while maintaining a
visible presence in Niwot. This will give the area deputies a place to
do reports, use the phone, computer, "facilities", and meet with
residents without driving back to the HQ building in Boulder.

I hope this alleviates some of the concerns over this issue. There are
tremendous financial and practical incentives to relocating and
centralizing our services in the new headquarters building, but we
certainly do not want the community to feel underserved or left out.
